As the focus group at our first conference put it, patchworking is now our term for networking members together into a cohesive whole to support special education teachers, students and programs in the province of Saskatchewan.
SSPEC Belief Statements:
As the Saskatchewan Special Education Council, we:
- recognize that special education teachers play a unique role as educators in Saskatchewan schools
- recognize the importance for teacher wellness, collaborative teams, and least restrictive environments for students
- advocate for special education teachers within our province and serve as a link to provincial organizations such as Saskatchewan Learning, STF, and all teacher associations
- support professional development
- provide a forum to discuss special education topics
- acknowledge the diverse needs of Saskatchewan students
Mission Statement
The Saskatchewan Special Education Council recognizes the unique roles and responsibilities of Saskatchewan Special Education teachers, consultants, paraprofessionals and administrators, by supporting and advocating for improved environments for students through collaboration, communication, resources, and networking.
